Here is a side by side comparison of a real MG42 and a Hyper Firm (rubber) model. The first major difference is about 40 pounds of metal! The second is the details mainly in the recesses of the weapons.

As you can easily see the barrel shroud lacks any depth, but for the sake of our actor playing Kurz he will be able to use the rubber one for long shots then switch the real one for close ups.
