The process of transferring the name was a serious pain in the bum and at any point he could skipped out, but he didn't. It just goes to show, there are still good people out there. This is a FANTASTIC site. It has tons of free stock footage including spark hits, muzzle flashes, fire balls and all sorts of shenanigans. But I suggest buying the footage from cafepress to support them and to get the bonus clips! 
Joel is truly an amazing craftsman of all our practical bullet hits and explosions. He created the FX Pipe for Detonation Films and created a whole line of bullet hit, grenade hit, and squibs hits for Panzer Corps using compressed air. I have the privilege to say he made our ideas become real! 
NoControl Cinema has some great HD digital effects for a great price; plus they have some great tutorials. And Marco von Moos of NoControl Cinema is one heck of a filmmaker, check out his stuff!
These chaps have the best software for generating muzzle flashes, particle emitters that can generate effects like smoke and even "light swords". Their forum is great for young and low budget filmmakers, plus there are some really good films on there! 
Final Cut, Motion, Shake- That is all i need to say.
