..."I thought it was an amazing experience to watch young minds at work in making an independent film," Silva said. "I hope they win many awards."
Movie writer and producer Jeff Leaman said that Silva's property provided a quiet setting.
Financed in part by credit cards, the film is about a post-World War II world in which Germany, Russia and the United States face off one another in a cold war.
In the film, a German soldier takes action after he discovers a plot by his government to drop an atomic bomb on Moscow.
"It's an alternate history piece based on the events of World War II going slightly different," Leaman, 28, of Baltimore, Md., said. "The movie began as a special effects test but as more people got involved it got bigger."
He said that his friend Adam Valuckas has been dying to make the film....He added that the script for his movie has changed 17 times and that the movie shows how each person has a choice to do the right thing. Silva said the script is incredible.
Following the filming, which ended on Monday, computers will be used to add special effects such as explosions.
"Technology makes it easier for us to make larger productions," Leaman said. "Our budget is smaller than five seconds of Men in Black."
The 12 hours of footage shot in the past week will be edited down to 30 minutes.
Leaman noted that it is likely the movie will be ready for showings at film festivals in a couple of months.
"The big dream is someone gives you more money to do a longer film," Valuckas, 29, said.
